Unless you are running 1.50 (on a psp slim you wont be) it's not possible, however making a magic memory card is easy, just back up your data and put some files on the card and a pandora battery is cheap. Really a pandora battery can be made (official battery + mod = expensive) or purchased (about 20 bucks including a magic memory card) online including shipping.
It's the most effective reliable way to do it - but not sure if it works on psp3k.
