AM, or FM? What frequency? How far do you want it to reach?
Do you want a kit or something prebuilt?
If FM stereo or mono?

I was thinking FM, but i understand that AM is easier to transmit.
Prebuilt would be the way to go.
It does not matter to me wether it is sterio or mono.

Check this out. These are FM. Several kits and several prebuilt.
FM is not any harder to do than good AM.
How far do you want to broadcast?

How low, exactly? One that transmits only to your block can be operated without a license. To run a more powerful one, you either need to obtain a license or operate on a purely experimental basis. (The FCC has regulatory exceptions for experimentation, provided you don't make a nuisance of yourself.)
