Hubcap Art Answered

This chap - calls himself Ptolemy - makes his living recycling hubcaps into works of art (mainly fish).

They're for sale through his website, but it's more fun to look at his work and figure out how you would do it...

Really cool. Sadly, so many caps lately are made from plastic.

So are these - the reason I posted this is because his work was featured on a kids' art programme I was watching with #1 son - we saw him make a seahorse, and the hubcaps were clearly plastic.

Oh I see......and here I assumed he was doing a lot of metal cutting, welding, and brazing... They are still very nicely done, though.

It seems that most of what he does is cut up the caps and then wire the bits together.
