I am a Premium member but cannot download items Answered

I was already logged in and was viewing an item that I wanted to download. However, I made the mistake of clicking on 'upgrade to Premium' rather than 'login'. Now I cannot download anything: I am simply asked if I want to upgrade or not. The upgrade option requires another payment, so I don't want to follow that route. I cannot correct this fault by logging out and logging in again, or closing and reopening my browser. Help!

Thank you, seamster and Matlek. I have happily renewed my subscription, since I love Instructables and learn a lot from others. I will take Matlek's advice and try to submit something myself. My expertise is mainly in microscopes, so a bit specialized for most members.

Happy to see that you will start submitting! :)

I'd say there is nothing too specialized, as far as you write a good introduction to your instructable. I've also published something related to microscopes (called "Motorized Correction Collar for Microscope Objective"), and I got up to 3,000 views which is already quite nice.

In fact, members that are not specialized can learn something new in your field, and specialists can find your instructable more easily with adapted keywords on the internet.

Hi Brad,

Looking at your account, I see that you paid for a 2-year premium membership on August 14, 2016 - meaning it expired this last August and those extra features automatically went away. I would recommend what Matlek says about writing a feature-able Instrucable! : )

For some guidance on what it takes to be featured, check out this guide: https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Create-a-F...

(Alternately, you could pay to re-start your premium membership.)

If you don't want to pay, you can write an instructable. If it is clear, well written and interesting, you'll probably get featured and consequently, you will get a free pro membership! Give it a try, it's worth it ;) And you might continue writing Instructables after that.

However, if you feel you cannot (or do not) write one, contact me by private message, I'll send you a premium membership.
