Cut in about a quarter cup of lard or butter (margarine does not work as well, it contains too much water) Stir in enough milk or butter milk to form a soft dough. The trick is not to over work the dough ( if you stir it too much your biscuits will be tough and heavy) You can either drop spoonfuls on to a baking sheet or use a biscuit cutter with SHARP edges to cut biscuits out (if you use a drinking glass the edges may be flattened and they will not rise as well.) Bake at 400 deg f until tops are touched with gold. Yum!!! Corn bread is also good in a hurry!
