I hear about it through Tech Shop Answered
I went to the I3d summit this past week during the Autodesk event in Vegas. I found out about this event through the new Techshop Chandler location, and with my ASU ID I got a free ticket to the event which was awesome. I was mainly interested in this event to find out more about design software and 3d printers. I found the event to be very useful for getting a general idea of what the industry is doing and where it is going. Being a non engineering or design expert, just a guy with an interest, I didn't get as much as I would have I liked. I heard from a lot of speakers but one of the most interesting to me was Alice Taylor who is CEO of MakieLab. She was one of the few speakers who are currently running a competently 3D printer based company and discussed how they have found success. Also, the key note speaker, Jeff Ma, was very interesting and drove home one of the main points of the day; just try, don't put to much time or effort into over thinking, put more into action. That is kind of the vibe that I got from the whole event, that a lot of people don't know what this industry is but there much hope for its growth and impact on society.
