I need help selecting a small camera.
I am gathering the materials for a project, and I need a small digital camera.
The lens must not move, images must be downloadable via usb, batteries must be charged via the same usb.
This camera is ideal, except it is way too expensive, and is a video camera (and it's from China, but that's another issue).
This camera is ideal, except that the batteries are not charged via the USB, which makes my project much trickier (I'm going to be building the digital camera into another object).
Can anybody recommend (or at least find online) a "happy medium" between the two?

. A quick web search shows me there are waaayyy too many options. I've had good luck telephoning trusted vendors, explaining what I'm trying to do, and asking for their suggestions. TigerDirect usually does a good job for me, but it depends on which salesperson you get. You should have similar e-stores on your side of The Pond. A bricks-and-mortar camera store will probably cost a little more, but they should be able to tell you just what you need.

OK, thanks.

. It sounds like you are trying to do something a little out of the ordinary. In cases like that, it can be well worth the extra money to get the advice of someone that knows what's going on (eg, knowledgeable salesperson). Better to pay a little extra than find out your "good deal" won't do the job.

I used to have one of the second type you posted. They're OK, but they only hold the images for as long as the battery lasts.

People, but more in the "homies" kind of way.

Phew.
Ah, over here, it just means "folks that I'm talking to right now", thanks to a comedy kebab-vending character invented by Harry Enfield.

How about a logitech webcam? I don't think the lens moves on that one. Haha, when I first saw this topic, I was thinking "I'd send him one, but I'm flat broke...".

Ah, I'd best change the title, then - I'm not scrounging, I just need help picking one.
