I think you could buy a wardrobe and some plastic boxes of different sizes. Label those boxes into socks, pullovers, T-shirts, underwear, etc. and then fold your clothes as Linda Koopersmith shows in her site www.beverlyhillsorganizer.com . The woman is a bit weird but her folding technique actually works, I did it and I saved LOTS of space!!
Now if your budget is too tight you could put those boxes on shelves and hide them behind a curtain or folder screen.

You can also get (or build) clothes rods on self-supporting stands. In my last apartment, I installed a homebrew "closet system" -- melamine uprights and shelves, with some spaces left open and clothes rods installed across them instead -- along one wall. Cost me about $100 in lumber and hardware, if I remember correctly, and gave me a metric buttload of additional storage space.

Realized I had a photo of the beast. It's a bit cluttered, but it was quite effective. Note that since I could size the top piece to fit between two walls (and since I didn't have kids around who might try to climb on it and pull it down) I didn't need to add a back, add diagonal bracing, or anchor it to the wall; it was quite stable enough as it was.

Get yourself an armoire. Closets in bedrooms are a fairly modern idea in human habitation. Check this out. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9870672&sourceid=1500000000000003260370&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=9870672

If you don't want to spend that much or have a piece of permanent furniture the call some of the bigger moving companies. They sell a Wardrobe box that is basically a big heavy duty moving box with a rod across at the top. you can paint it or decorate it as you like.

But do something, you really need to get those cloths off the floor and bed.
