I need to rig a chest to play a recorded noise when opened. Answered

Howdy folks.

I have a bit of a conundrum. I know exactly what I want but I'm not so sure how to get the pieces together for it... or even what pieces I might need.

The plan: Take a chest I have and install a speaker in it, attach it to a button and something recorded with the little ditty when you open a chest in Legend of Zelda.

Do do do doooo!

I have the chest and the sound. That was the easy part. The rest is getting the hardware I need and installing it. And my promise: if I get going on this, I'll post an instructable with the how-to. I searched and searched and didn't find one on here which kind of surprised me! But anyhoo. Um. Help?

I would go to hallmark, buy a 7 ~ 8 dollar voice recorder card, take out the module and the switch, and just use that. Since the switch is already designed with "opening and closing" in mind, little or no modification should be needed.

Awh, too bad. Maybe another store sells them. This sounds akin to Walmart.

...Honestly, I had not thought about that. I was so bent on making it myself but that's really smart!

And I know it'll be loud enough because when people open those things they like. Immediately close them because they're way too loud.

Thanks!

How about a Radio Shack recording module. You could probably change out the switch for another  (can't think of the type of switch to use at the moment). As for using the module with the speakers, Goodhart has a nice Instructable on how to make an amp for the module.
