I opened the ipod but it is hard to get the headphone plugin out and I'm afraid to break something else? Answered

Head phones only work on one side and I believe its the plug in doughnut..My EMAIL is cricketmanjr@yahoo.com

I want to replace the plugin I'm not getting music on one side of the headphones or in my car. Thanks... C

You think it's the socket? I am not convinced. Losing one audio channel is not uncommon for stereo systems, it tends to be caused by a faulty amplifier. Your iPod must be out of warranty? While you've got it apart, connect a small speaker or piezo to the audio-out on the board to be sure it is actually the socket, before trying to replace it.
