IDEAS??? Answered

'CMON, I thought this was the idea-thinktank? Where are all the ideas? You know, some say that those who can't do something are the best when it comes to innovating about that thing because they don't know the limits of what can and can't be done.... That's what the rest of us are here for.

Hmm, yes one of the more popular vacuum cleaners (about which many a joke has already been made) is the Hoover ;-) So Hoover (capitalized) boots would be boots that accessorize the Hoover or made from one.

You know what's sad... I REALLY REALLY want to make a pair now...
I dunno, bits of hose for joints, a whip made from the handle and the cord...

Heck, a full suit of armor made from vacuum parts would be awesome!

I could be: THE SUCKER!!!!

Ideas? I have about one every ten seconds. Here, I'll let my brain idle for a bit and let's see what comes out: 1)Riveted armor made from flattened aluminum cans. 2)Projects using pallets. (I read statistics on how many pallets are produced, used once, and then end up in landfills. This is good hardwood ready for a new life. Think, people. Think. I built several tables and am working on an Adirondack chair from pallets) 3)Monowheels!!! 4)DIY ruggedized enclosures for laptops with waterproof keyboards and external peripheral hookups. 5)Open source automobiles. 6)Homebrew cryptography (I do this for fun. Either replicate a cipher of old like the World War II Enigma, or create one of your own, on computer, or 'physical' somehow) Ok, there's a minute's worth. Get to work.

no, ideas to bring for ideas that will eventually bring forth ideas for something to make an instructable about... maybe like how to come up with an idea...

Well, a lot of times it just depends on my mood. When in a playful mood, I may look at, say a pen cap in a totally different way, and start "playing" with it (playing around, sometimes making sketches etc), until I get bored or experience that "oh hey, what if I......" feeling. That is the birth of a new idea for me, most of the time.

I forgot to add, that foolish LOOKING joking around is akin to brainstorming, and can also bring out good ideas if anyone is listening....

How about an off-road ATV/Motocross chest protector make of garden hose.
These Chest Protectors are expensive. I came up with the idea of using a garden hose a few years ago. If you cut the hose and then stacked one piece on top of the other horizontally and ran a rope straight down through a hole in theend of each piece you could do this. It would probably turn out looking like a human ribcage. This thing would last forever and would work better than the ones you could buy.

Personally, I would be against having anything "safety-equipment" related with anything with "DIY" or "Home-made" in the names... The following come to mind: home-made parachute DIY airbag scratch-built rugby helmet...

How do you think those things got started?

Again, I "Personally" wouldn't be willing to risk injury for that... I didn't say it wasn't a valid point/idea...

I can understand that. Did you see the parachute/glider the guy in Africa made? He made it out of plastic shopping bags and then he used it and it worked! Now that is something I would never do unless I absolutely had to. He was just doing it for recreation.

You'd get a kick out of this one then...
http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2006-07/25/content_648640.htm

This farmer in china wants to fly... and had tried to numerous times.

Now, I know that there are a lot of scratch-built airplanes built, but understandably, those people have put a lot of research and resources into building them... they're Do-it-yourself, but quality-wise, are on-par if not better than commercial models.
But what chance does a poor chinese farmer, with little to no aeronautical expertise and few resources have of building a functioning and safe airplane?
