If its yours, is it spam? Answered

If you "spam" your own work, is it still spam?

It's spam if your mention is purely promoting your own work and not relevant to the discussion.

"How do you suggest I transport twenty 2x4s home from the store on my bicycle?"
"A bike trailer- check out mine here"

is fine.

"Calling all philosophers/poets, what is the nature of love?"
"You know what I love? Bike trailers, check out mine here"

is spam.

The line between them is thin, grey and open to interpretation. Use your discretion- if what you are saying is irrelevant and just an opportunity to promote your stuff, it's probably spam, but if it just came up naturally then it probably isn't.

There's also an argument by frequency- if you mention and link your projects in every single post then it will probably become annoying.

Hay guise check out my awesome stuff

That was an example
SPAM is an abuse of messaging systems where a person or persons send unsolicited messages pretty much indiscriminately, i.e inappropriate use of the site. So if you drop 50 comments about the site saying "HEY LOOK AT MY-!!!!!!" it is SPAM. L
