I'm looking for a hard candy recipe made with real maple syrup.? Answered

I've been making hard candy with maple flavoring oil but would like a recipe made with real maple syrup. I tried making the hard candy and adding maple syrup instead of flavoring.. but it was very sticky and sticking to everyones teeth. Not sure if I did something wrong? I'm looking for hard candy recipe.. not the maple candy. Thanks!

How to Make Hard Candy With Syrup - Athena Hessong

Things You’ll Need:
  • Candy thermometer Hard-candy molds 2 cups pure maple syrup Cooking spray 10 1/2-by-15 1/2-by-1 inch jellyroll pan or a baking pan with a 1-inch wall on all sides (if not using candy molds) Large, deep cooking pot Wax paper and a hammer or can (if not using candy molds) Powdered sugar Air-tight container
  • Step 1: Spray the cooking spray inside the candy molds or over the entire pan you are using.
  • Step 2: Pour 2 cups of maple syrup into the bottom of the pot.
  • Step 3: Clip the candy thermometer to the side of the pot so the tip is in the maple syrup but not touching the sides or bottom of the pot.
  • Step 4: Place the pot on the stove top over medium-low heat.
  • Step 5: Heat the maple syrup, without stirring, until the candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees F.
  • Step 6: Immediately pour the maple syrup out of the pot and into the candy mold or onto the baking pan.
  • Step 7: Let the candy dry until it is completely cooled and hard.
  • Step 8: Turn the mold upside down and tap the bottom to remove the candy. Gently tap the candy in the baking pan with a heavy object (such as a hammer or a can wrapped in wax paper). This will break the candy apart into smaller pieces.
  • Step 9: Toss the candy with powdered sugar to prevent it from clumping together during storage.
  • Step 10: Place the candy in an air-tight container and eat it within two weeks.

Tips & Warnings:
Do not use pancake syrup or honey for this recipe.Do not leave the candy unattended while cooking.
