Images in my instructable is shown twice in the same page? Answered

https://www.instructables.com/id/Lego-flower-vase/

I can't see the error in my edit-view so I can't correct it.
It's not that important, but if someone is able to help, that would be nice.

We just released a bunch of bug fixes, and checking your instructable, I don't see what you're talking about. Please let me know if you're still seeing it. I only see the thumbnails below the main images, nowhere else on the page.

It's still there, Matt. Go to his Intro-only I'ble, above. You'll see the place for the row of steps, and below that the big picture and three thumbnails. Then you see all of his text. Keep scrolling. You see the big picture again along with the thumbnails.

I suspect the problem is that he created an intro-only Ible (which got through the filters, for shame!). The back-end code which automatically puts up the Intro plus Step 1 is perhaps getting confused by the lack of Step 1 :-)

I've attached 3 photo's. One shows the top of the instructable, top of main image up. The second is bottom of main image to intro text, and the last is the end of his intro text to comments.

Is it missing on mine, or am I still looking in the wrong place?

Hah! I got it...I have to log out to see it though.

It goes away if view all steps is selected as your default (I think).

All instructables show the first two steps on the main page of the instructable. Since this only has one step, it looks like it's auto-filling in the second step with the same content. I don't think there's any way around that. This should be a photo-instructable though. There's no reason to have a one step instructable that's not a photo instructable.

You're right, but it doesn't have to be your default. I just selected View All Steps by hand, and sure enough, the duplicated information goes away.

However, this is still a bug, and should be fixed. The "auto-filling" is only being done with the images, not with the intro text.

As for doing it as a photo I'ble, I suggested that to the author as well (see below). Is there a way to "flip a flag" in the database (or through a nice UI) by the Staff, to make that change? Or are the three kinds of Instructables stored in separate tables?

Unfortunately the different forms of instructables are all stored in different ways, so flipping things aren't really an option. Copying and pasting text, and using the same images that are already uploaded should take less then 3 minutes though. I'll pass the bug along, but I'm not sure it's going to make it too high on the list...kekeke.

Actually, looking at the instructable again, it's probably not going to get published until the author changes it to a photo instructable.

Yes, I just got a message from admin asking me to change it one way or another - so I'll just do that.

The little pictures at the bottom are thumbnails of all the images you included. Users can click on each one to show the large version in the main area.

Thanks - but that is not the problem. The image plus thumbnails is duplicated so it is both above and below the text. Take a look - It is much easier to see than understand from my explanation :)

Oh! I didn't even notice that; how really bizarre. This definitely counts as a bug; I've shifted the category, so that Staff will see it tomorrow morning.

Thanks. The error might be caused by me choosing the step-by-step instructable and only having one step.

It's still worth understanding :-) However, you probably want to create a new "photo" (slideshow) Instructable for this project; it's quite appropriate.

I'll probably just leave it as it is. It's working fine anyway :)
