Instructables Internship - Day 4 Answered

Alo Again,

Well, this morning I didn't have the opportunity to burn my PB sandwich, not only because it was a PB&J sandwich, but because the oven was filled with semi-burnt roasted tomatoes/garlic.

Anyhow, Today I did some more outreach for the new Launch It! Contest and... drumroll please.... Billy and I shipped all of the remaining Laser Cutter Contest Winners' prizes! Woo Hoo! Other than that, the morning was pretty chill. I'm getting used to the much more relaxed setting here at Instructables. At all of my other internships I've had, everything was always so fast-paced, tense, and ridiculously demanding. At Instructables, everyone's just Chill. Everyone enjoys what they're doing. It's awesome.

Also, I downloaded the Instructables MySQL dumpfile from Rachel, and I'm in the process of getting it back into MySQL. Eventually, I'm going to try and make some cool new statistic features for you guys!

Billy and I tested out some LEDs and my ultra-thin/flexible solar panels, which are hella awesome. The specs say that they get 3V @ 22 mA max in the sunlight, but yesterday, I got that in the shade. In the sunlight?: 4.19V!

After that, Jason, Billy, Noah and I checked out the Water Jet in Instructables' machine shop. Billy had to cut some stuff for a project of his, but watching the machine "do its thing" was really cool. There's so much awesome stuff here, I still can't believe it.

Noah, Jason, and I then picked out some stuff that was going to get thrown out to use in Proj. X, and we ordered the Surgical Tubing, too!

Then, Jason, Mike (Works for Potenco), and I went to the beach to check out the kite boarders, and fly the trainer kite. (Eventually, we'll get to kite board, too!)

Alright, I think that I'm actually going to go get started on Proj. X now...

I've included some pictures that I've taken throughout the day.

Cheers,
-Muffinator

P.S. I came up with an awesome badge idea, and I'll draw it up today on the computer. I'll post it by tonight, so make sure you tell me if you like it or not!

Thats why I said x10, because I knew it wouldn't be that much... I wasn't sure if it was $1, or a cookie... Josh, you know that you have a duty to follow through on! :P ($10 isn't too shabby, thats 4ft of your tubing)

There needs to be a tag to hide from Eric...

Eric, everything in bold italics is not for you... Ignore it. Its just us going "blahblahblah", see?

So, I'm thinking we modify that brainwave thing (As seen in MAKE:0somethingorothersevenoreightiforget), and wire it into his brain so that we can control him! Then we'll make an instructable on it!

Good idea..we'll have Josh implant it while he's asleep, put it through a server - chat style, so we can just type in commands and he'll do it

GREAT PLAN! I was thinking pet turtle, but then they'd force us into using DSL (ever seen those Comcast commercials?), so Eric would constantly lag...
Then it would draw attention... in a bad way...

Maybe we could just use a cell phone? It has internet access, and we could just plug Eric in via mini USB

Send him text message commands

Great thinking! Then we could also use him as a controller for our secret project! (That isn't really secret)

He could also buy us cheese

But wait, I think Eric only has USB type A ports, you know those squarish ones?
Adapters are expensive... and bulky. We might have to hide this thing under his purple shoes...
But then they'd wonder why he has purple shoes... on his *head*

Are you sure he hasn't updated yet? I heard he went in for repairs last month.

Hmm... the problem is, although they've added the port, its not implemented on the software side... reading the following, however, should quasi-activate it:

GEI-adsgvnISF0sadg
87-gasidhg)*FIghgas
gj0asdgj0*GsdoajsdF
UsdghsadfhHFHSHF

Thank god I saved that python cross compiler for Eric-based systems!

Yeah, they totally reformatted him with new firmware, and installed ad-aware xe to his. I heard they upgraded his hardrive/RAM as well. The proper code would be:

GEI-adsgvnISFOdsaf-sendto:ERICW-USB1
+:encodeas:dfskhidsfhdfe=format=motorola(555-298-5637)
/accepttextmessagesass:command//

Ugh, installed ad-aware? Who knew he ran on a firefox? I tried that, and burnt my feet!
It seems something more down Billy's alley...
I'm currently swimming with seamonkeys... even though they're ugly ;-)

Cristy, cook up some... cock au vin or something? Please?

Oh, when you cook it, just leave it in the Window to cool down... and make sure that you cook it quick so that the wine doesn't evaporate!

Great plan!
