the cake isn't a lie

SPOILER ALERT

After you beat the narrator/robot thing in a boss battle you get sucked out of the roof and onto the grass after that it goes to a cut scene where the narrator/robot thing goes up to the cake and blows out the candles, the cake isn't a lie but the promise of getting the cake in return is a lie as the narrator/robot thing plans to kill you to hide all the evidence, just had to clear that up.

continuation of my first answer the computer only has a basic knowledge of humans and it knows that humans will do things for rewards, it knows people like cake so it uses the cake as a reward for the test subject to continue it's test.

The cake is neither cake nor a lie. It is, indeed, a hologram. It is there, but it is not.
