Yes you can as I have done this my self, from a reputable torrent site (TPB) comes to mind, down load a fully cracked copy of XP and burn the ISO to disk . Just do a complete fresh install and your good to go. WinXP support ends in 2014 so it can easily be considered abandoned ware, MS is not going after anyone for downloading this crusty old OS.If you are just using it for internet "stuff" like social networking and the like may I suggest a lite weight version of Linux ( Zorin OS) which has a desktop that looks and acts like WinXP which will make it easier for you to navigate and do things.
This computer is so old that there is no support offered for it. It has the minimum requirements for Windows XP with a max ram of 512 meg and a 20 gig hard drive. As I explained in your other question if you want to you can erase everything and start fresh, but you need a Windows XP disk. Forget about the restore option. You can get an XP disk from anywhere now because it is an obsolete operating system. Any Windows XP home edition should work. People are throwing them out along with the old computers. Why do you want to salvage this old machine? You can get newer old ones from many places for free.
