If it is old, then it is likely that the battery is either damaged or just too old and needs to be replaced. Lithium batteries degrade when:

They get too hot

They get too cold

They get over-charged (or stay charged for too long)

They get over-discharged (or stay discharged for too long)

They get charged too fast (too many C's or amps)

They get discharged too fast (too many C's or amps)

They get old.

If you can rebuild or replace the battery pack, that is what I recommend. Be careful if you choose to try to build a new battery pack though, protection PCBs are a must with dealing with lithium ions, and cheap lithium ions that flood Amazon and eBay are no good, not even worth there minamal costs.

I could tell you if I use my multimeter on it...
But seems you ruled everything external out, which means either the battery or the electronics charging it are toast.
If you are lucky it is only the connector on your laptop that has faulty soldering connections to the mainboard - usually a light comes on when you connect the charger, no light would mean no power going in.
