Just wondering about what you actually get in a Pro Membership. Answered

I was doing some poking around the site and found this page: https://www.instructables.com/account/give
it talks about a few things that I haven't heard of or noticed since being pro for a while. These include:
  • WYSIWYG Rich Text Editor? I did not notice the editor change at all when upgrading to a pro membership. Is this talking about being able to access and edit the HTML of an instructable?
  • Author Intro - I am guessing this is different than the author bio, so I am not sure...
  • Private Instructables - I have never seen an option to make an instructable private.
---
After typing the above out, I logged out of my account and went to the signup page here:
https://www.instructables.com/account/gopro
and it seems the author intro and the WYSIWYG rich text editor seems to have disappeared however the private instructables feature is still there.

If it has any meaning, I didn't pay for pro, I am using one my free 1 year pro memberships for getting a hompage feature.

Here (as an example)-

https://www.instructables.com/id/P9C-Chair-made-wit...

when I click the download button, am told that I have to be pro, but I have no idea what the download consists of. Is it drawings, cnc files, something else, what? I don't want to start a membership just to find that the information, for a particular project, isn't even close to what I hoped for.

It's a pdf of the whole ible. So, it includes everything you can see on the page but without banners and navigation bars, and you can customize it to include or exclude things like comments.

In general, this page is a more up-to-date reference of the differences: https://www.instructables.com/account/gopro

The page you've referenced is up for renewal very shortly as a matter of fact. Meanwhile, the updates are summarized by the attached screenshots. Pro users can type arbitrary HTML and expect it to render, with some limited security screenings. "Private" is available to pro's only, and is pictured in the screenshot for the pro view.

Actually quite intersting to see that it says "Less advertising" for pro members but not "no ads".
Although one would expect to hav no ads at all after paying for a service...
Good that there are programs for this ;)

All pro's are the same, so yours would be the same as people who paid for theirs. I know the site has changed a lot since the Pro membership feature was originally added, so some of the things you mentioned were simply odd added features that were changed or rolled into the normal account. I'm not sure about the Private thing. I will check on that to see how you can have the ability to make your project private or if that is something that needs to change on the signup page.
