Looking for help identifying some components
So I recently got an Iomega CD-RW external drive from a yard sale and I want to turn it into a burning laser pointer (which will be apart of another project) but I went and saw that the current tutorial is for 245 mw laser. Now I haven't taken the drive apart yet, but I'm guessing its not just going to be stamped on the diode itself. (that's just too easy)
Is there a website or database I can look up this iomega cd-rw drive to find out what parts it contains. The model number is CDRW55292EXT. I tried Googling it but I got noting really.
Any thoughts, tips, ideas, etc?

CD-rom lasers usually use infrared, so even if you managed to make this a burning laser, you could not see the "beam". Not seeing it could also make it pretty dangerous if you point it into someones eye without knowing. Usually, you want a DVD-rom for this kind of thing, as they usually have a laser you actually can see.

I thought those burning laser diodes came from "blu-ray" dvd burners only. You would have to look further into those instructables but a regular CD-RW probably doesn't have the right laser diode to use.
