Make Magazine / Boing Boing on Martha Stewart !
While I was paying bills in the back my wife called me out front to see a portion of the Martha Stewart Show that she said I would be interested in.
Make's Editor in Chief, Mark Frauenfelder demonstrated such things as the VCR cat feeder, cigar box guitar, and Vibro-bots on the show.
Make's site currently has this on their front page @ Makezine.com

Wow, that is cool, and really appropriate. We may not like her, but Martha Stewart is very much a maker, and a strong advocate of the maker philosophy.

Actually, I adore Martha.

I like her attitude on making things.....some things are not things I'd have in my home however :-)

I think that's generically true of any maker -- there are a lot of things on this site that I wouldn't want to have in my home :-) But Ms. Stewart has been advocating for, and demonstrating by example, the Maker ethic for many years before either MAKE Magazine or I'bles existed. And the fact that she developed a cadre of millions of enthusiastic fans says a lot for just how compelling that Maker ethic can be.

Oh I agree. The only thing I am upset about is that her empire did crush some of the upstart makers......a few years before her incarceration, there were at least 2-3 other shows on with a very similar MAKE @ HOME theme, but they all fell to the wayside, not because they weren't good (I can't remember the names off the top of my head), but because they couldn't complete. I watched one of them on a regular basis back then (before I started in here).

Who doesn't? Martha is a maker god. Before I was an 'ibler, I would watch her show, particularly for the gardening and cooking.

She could have collaborated on this. The admins had to draw the line at the "file in the cake" ibles.

Yeah, that was because the Guards kept breaking their teeth on those files.....

Yes, I suppose that is very much so (it was kind of funny when her Vibro-bot worked and Mark's FAIL(ed) ;-)

What? Martha is in jail? I'll have to contact the Sydney Morning Herald via the good ole' crank phone.

It couldn't be any worse than the original....I have been forced to spend time with my wife, while she watched it and I found it totally boring and obtuse.
