Missed Out on the Halloween Contest? There's More to Do! Answered

The Halloween contest has closed for entries and the judges are going to be going through all of the amazing entries, but there's more! We have the Mash-Up Contest that we're running with ReadyMade and the Laser Cutter Contest with Universal Laser.

Here's a quick rundown of what can be entered for each:

Mash-Up Contest

Eligible entries: Take two or more different items and combine them in some new and creative way. You've now mashed them together for a mash-up! It's kind of like Voltron coming together, but with plastic cartons, CDs, VCRs, stuffed animals, and whatever else you have lying around instead of mechanized lions.

Prizes:Coby Personal Media Player + Michaels gift card, sewing machines, and VPX Black & Decker tool sets.

Deadline: Nov. 25

Laser Cutter Contest

Eligible entries: Anything totally awesome. Really. There are no restrictions on this one.

Prizes: 40-watt VersaLaser VLS3.50 laser cutter worth over $15,000, laser-etched plaques, laser-etched Leatherman Juice S2, and t-shirts.

Deadline: Dec. 16

I recommend headphones and an ipod full of music with heavy bass. It helps distract from the low-speed drilling bone vibrations.

LOL I had them put me under totally. I wasn't about to sit there and try not to gag while someone put two hands and several knives and clamps into my mouth. BTW: I got all four of mine out at one sitting. That was about 29-32 years ago.

Some advice, use the syringe they give you often to flush the area out with water. Mine got infected after some food got in there afterwards, and the dentist had to open them up again.......if they say use salt water, use salt water. It will help disinfect.

I am hoping to be able to get some space cleared away in my workshop (my wife "occupied it" with her stuff) so I can work on some projects...soon.

I hear ya. I moved a couple months ago and we're just finally getting truly settled. In a few days I should have my old work desk fully functional. Yeah!

I believe that this more than makes up for that, not that there is a problem with any "No-iBle users".

Thanks. Still I would like to do more than just comment on what everyone else is "doing". I love to "do" things too (I simply must find my Microwave detector....it is surprisingly simple itself LOL)

All I remember is that it used either a Gunn diode or a Schottky diode *sigh*

Yeah, really simple device, you bring it near the microwave's door, or where-ever you suspect a leak, and an LED told you if you guessed right or not (that is, if there was a leak near there are not).

Any way to extend the laser contest to the end of December or early January? You know, to coincide with winter break for those of us in the scholarly phase of life? Just sayin :p I'll probably be entering my innovate or die entry into the contest :) The deadline is something like December 15th or 16th :D

The deadline is pretty firm. If it was to go a bit further it would be overlapping the holidays.

I really need to get cracking. I leave the country for a month on November 18th. Thankfully there is a holiday coming up!

Oh, nice! I was in Bali for a week several years ago and got to go out to thailand last year. A whole month? I'm jealous.

I hope I can finish my project by the 25th, stuff coming on friday or monday and a lot of what I'm doing requires drying time.
