Does your Motherboard choose the type of Graphics card you need or can you use any brand of graphics card for any motherboard?

Both the slot type and bios affect which graphics card will work/fit and which won't. You have to check the specs on both the motherboard and graphics card.

Not really, that's what documentation and forums are for : ) I just know what hasn't worked for my tinkering.
