Motherboard Answered

I am looking for a cheap motherboard that will fit a Dell Dimension E520 case (BTX). The socket is LGA 775.

Can anyone suggest one that will fit. Secondhand fine

You have to be careful. Dell is known for using not only non-stand motherboards, but non-standard power supplies. You might better off getting a cheap case and starting from scratch. Dell does offer replacements parts in some cases, but get ready to pay a premium. Lokk at the capacitors on the existing board and see if the tops of the caps are pointy in stead of flat. Getting the same motherboard can only lead to more wasted money,.

Would not own a del if you know whqat froze over. been there done that.

I am having difficulty locating a suitable motherboard at the right price. Surely, someone must know of motherboards that are compabile with a Dell Dimension E520.

BTX, Pentium D

I would suggest modding the case a bit and fitting an ATX board of your choice into it in an upside down configuration.

Sounds difficult. How would you propose modifying the case, fitting the board, and the other components?

Try ebay. BTX form not really common for aftermarket/custom pc diy'ers.
