My 4 yo dog is not getting along with my new puppy Answered

I bought an 8 week old puppy yesterday and my dog is treating it like a toy. Nibbling at her, jumping up on us to get to her. I really just don't know what to do about it. Giving her back isn't an option.

Of course the older dog is not getting along, it did not choose the puppy, you did.

That is what you did wrong, it will take time and patience to fix it, if it can be fixed.

Do not scold the older dog when it behaves badly or it might interpret it as you preferring the puppy over it.

Take alone time with the older dog, just you and the older dog.

Sometimes hes calm around her but when he sees that shes up he'll go and sniff her and nibble on her and starts to slob alot. I dont know what thats about but he'll sniff her and if she moves a little bit he'll get scared. He gets the whole morning with us playing cuddling all of that.

Does he nip, bite, or grab, dogs feel with their mouth.

We have had this temporary situation many times.

You must wait out until, your puppy looses those Very Sharp baby puppy teeth.

Then your dogs will become Best Friends Forever :-)

Next time you buy a dog ask the owner or seller if you can test him out for 24-48 hours so you know if there's something wrong or they don't get along.
