My Computer Is VERY SLOW! Answered

My computer was running perfectly fine and fast two days ago. It is a quad core 3.2 Ghz processor, so it should be very fast. I checked my temperatures and they were normal. I even reinstalled windows to make sure that I didn't have a virus that just couldn't be detected. For one, it took about 7 hours to install windows 7. I had to go on a different computer to even post this question. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you.

Check the ram in the computer properties, if it's different from it should be then try reseating the ram sticks. If it's fine check the harddrive and try a health check, there's plenty of freeware to do it.

No the ram was normal, I'll try reseating them anyways. Would you mind sending me a link for a freeware program to check the drive? Thank you!

Is your harddrive starting to flake out? Any strange noises? You might want to do an error check and defrag of your harddrive. Memory chips, CPU or motherboard may have some hardware problems. Maybe reseat all the components and cables if you are capable of doing it. Good luck.

No I am not getting any strange noises. How would I go about running an error check on my hard drive? I tried installing ubuntu on another drive and it seems to be running fine, so it is most likely the hard drive, but I want to be sure. Thanks for the response!
