My Scholarship Entry
Well, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the appropriate place, so tell me if I am not, but here is my scholarship entry: I would make the physical incarnation of SmarterChild, the infamous AIM robot. It could make casual conversation, remember your name, and do certain tasks on command, such as recall information and entertain a user with dances, jokes, and games. My other idea is a study bot. I would make it so that it could get the information from the subject of choice and quiz you, making buzzing noises when you got the question wrong, and lighting up when you got the question right.

If you know how to program that, then it sounds like a great idea. It would be good for young people..

Yeah, I'm not sure how you plan to get internet to it, a decent processor/memory to run this program. And just strapping a computer to it won't help, as how are you going to interface the two?

I wasn't planning on getting the internet. I think you guys are misunderstanding me. I don't plan on using the actual smarterbot thingy. I'm making my own robotic smarterchildesque type of deal. And as for the homework 'elping, thats just a half baked idea, but possibly getting him (the bot) to recognize and respond with speech, which I suppose is just like a smarterchild and not like a backup plan. Also, for the homework helping, I could build him an arm and let him flip index cards. A bit overdoing it, but personally, I find flipping index cards by hand to be mundane. Or maybe I could build some sort... nevermind, its jsut my backup idea and I should think about my main idea in greater depth.

It also appears to be propriatary, not Java based, so it would probably be hard to do other things with it such as control the bot. I Jaimbot (I think) is based on Java, and should be easier.

Yes, BuddyScript is my first choice, but should this be unsupported, I will make my back up idea, which I have quite a few of. Either the homework help bot, a travelling weather bot, or a "finder bot" which can find objects that you have lost that have a special object that you placed on them beforehand.

How would you do the finder bot? RFID tags? That would be interesting How would the bot help with homework? :P

. Great idea! . Do you plan on using BuddyScript? I can't tell if the SDK supports whatever the Create uses.
