Need a Strategy to Count/Sort Plastic Tips Answered

I need a way to take bags of plastic tips below and sort them into groups of 100 quickly for packaging. The tips are 6 inches long and about 1 inch in diameter. Any suggestions?

Have you ever read Tom Sawyer? If not read it now & take a tip from how he gets out of painting the fence ;-)

Weight - count out 100, note the weight, then just load your scales up to that same point.

I've used the weight method before. You need a fairly accurate scale. Also, err on the side of generosity so the customer doesn't say you cheated em.

Gutters!

Pharmacists count pills out with a board covered in small troughs - fill the trough, you have a certain number of pills.

Cover a panel with guttering, lets say 30 inches (=5 tips) long, and ten gutters side by side (10×5=50). Pour on your tips, and when they all line up in the gutters, you have 50 tips.

Any pics of what the item is? You can make a rack or a screen of 10 or 20 tubes that fit the item exactly and then pour that into a big funnel for packaging. Were they loose in bulk or polybagged in some non uniform shape?

Only if you do not pay them.
