No Help System Answered

Does a REAL online help system exist on this website?  I mean as on any real application program you may be familiar with.  Does it exist and if not why not?  This site is mature enough that it should have a resource which anybody can go to to answer the question " How should <name feature here> work?" or "Does <feature> exist?"

Up until now the only semblance to "HELP" I have seen is a forum where we all talk amongst ourselves and maybe somebody may throw in a nugget of real fact or wisdom.  But nothing where I can go to get any authoritative information.

Why should I have to wait (days/weeks) for a reply from the general hoipaloi instead of getting a (relatively) immediate answer to a simple question?

In fact I have been a member for 14 months now and just today is the first mention of the word "staff" have I found.  Staff??  No one in the forum is identified as "staff"! It seems as though no one is running the place.

WTF?  Why no real HELP!

Thank you Caitlinsdad. I followed the link you provided to the About page. After perusing for a few minutes I must conclude that NachoMahma and yourself are essentially correct. I admit that I assumed that there was more of a revenue stream from advertising to allow a staff of some sort who were constantly adding features. As such I also assumed that the necessity for a comprehensive, encyclopedic Help system would be obvious. Ebay has a very comprehensive, well-organized one. So do many others, why not Instructables? However, that being said, it is not to be.

It would take a significant amount of work and is obviously not a priority for the one (or two?) people expanding and maintaining the system. Perhaps a community-based effort could be organized where many members could contribute material which would be marshaled, edited, critiqued and published into a new universally-available feature. Sort of a HelpDesk as in a library. Would the "staff" be up for this? Or would the costs incurred require more ad money?

I guess I missed the About link provided by the robot when I signed on. At the very least, for the benefit of newbies (not that I am not one) perhaps move the About link from the bottom of the page where it is hidden from view to the top of the page so that those who have no idea what your group is all about can find it. Perhaps right beside the "Answers" button?
Thanks.

1. No one is running the place.  The interns do as they please.

2. This is a DIY site.  You are expected to find the answer by DIY.

3. Just us general hoipaloi to answer questions.

If you have a real concern, PM(private message) the staff.
