Noise or Music? Answered

The "Bose" sound system is based on chamber resonance like that of musical instruments. This is the difference between a whistle and a flute. The mouth piece of a trumpet is raw without its additional plumbing. The noise of a piezo-electric sounder is raw, but chambered to resonate...better. A trumpet is basically an acoustical waveguide device. Consider this and lets see if you can "WOW!" the crowds with your sounds.

The trumpet mellows the sound of the mouth piece by reflecting the sound repetitively off the inside walls of the horn. The angle is low so the acoustic wave reflects many times along the length. What works for you?

I like those old tube amps too. Working through the solid state has been a struggle to come close to what tube amps provided. Tubes have long been and remains the Gold Standard for those with the ears for it.
The Bose advance had more to do with speaker advance by recognizing the relationship between wave guide technology and acoustical instrument design. Although wave guides are generally used in the radio frequency bands, the principals and advances of this are applicable to acoustical systems. Perhaps the harshest device to attempt to get anything like music from is a piezo electric device , for several valid reasons. But, sure enough, with some work on resonant chambering  and wave guide things start sounding a lot better.
After having worked with this for a while I found the quest for a better sounding gadget (nowhere near that of tube amps) seemed explorable and curious. With a cheap little amp and hacking plastic into a variety of shapes to set up a wave guide the exploration of some of the potentials involved became obvious. So, after Bose went there way with all this and now that their early patents are expiring, It looks like a nice time to revisit these notions to see what may have been overlooked or missed entirely. Its a curious thing to do, but there has long been more to sound than meets the ear.

I prefer the mellow sound of a Vintage Les Paul thru a vintage tube amp. played by someone who knows what he's doing.

But I've heard some totally electronic music that sounds rather nice to me.
