These are some pictures I took of my brother lighting mortars (or artillery shells, whatever you want to call them) in my backyard, with very dry pine trees within a few inches. He's so bright. The pictures were taken with my Canon Powershot S3 IS on a tripod, using amounts from 6 to 15 second exposures, an ISO of 80, and an f-stop of 8. I kinda wish I would have went to a firework show this year, because these mortars were big, so a lot of them got cropped off, me being so close (How close, you say? I got hit in the head with burning fallout. That close). Well, hope you like them!

Here's my pics, the first 5 I made. Star mine, then small flame cannon, then two pics of my fountain I made, then one of my pinwheels. The pictures are low quality because they are frames from a video. The fourth came up quick, so I didn't have much. The rest of the photos are from store bought fireworks.

Those are cool my favorite kind are the type pictured on the very bottom left, where they explode then sparkle and flash (I love the sound they make and I don't know why). No smiley face fireworks this year though :-(

nice pictures! Fireworks are a PITA to get good pictures of, and video tends to be even worse.

GAH, I was going to take pictures at the parade but it was raining all morning, then at night we had to get my 2 year old sister to sleep then get out without her realizing that mom was leaving, and I forget my camera in the process. O well it was still fun ,plus I get to go camping and boating n what not all next week!!!

Some time-lapse pictures of fireworks (home or professional) would be pretty sweet.

I actually did something like that. For a photography contest, I tok a picture of a lit sparkler with a 1 second exposure. It looks like a star, I'll post some pics eventually.

time lapse is when you take a picture of the same thing every so often. For instance, every 30 seconds you take a picture of the fireworks, and then band them together as a video.

The Declaration of Independence, severing ties with Great Britain, was signed on the 2nd July 1776.

(Irrelevant facts: my last house but one is 134 years older than the USA. The local high school is about twenty years older than that.)

Signed on July 2nd, yes, but not officially adopted until July 4th, Independence Day. I'm so glad you shared the irrelevant facts with us.

Two days difference, in an age before electronic communications, without intervening significant dependent events, is NOT "civics"; it's just historical trivia.

Forums aren't the best place to post pictures, though...

I put up some photos from Wester Winter Blast (A sort of fireworks enthusiast's convention.) These are from 2003 (the last time I attended WWB. Sigh.) I'll attach my favorite...
