Old instructable in "recent" and date changed or hacked
I just noticed this instructable in under the "recent " button 641000 views in one day is a good effort, but if you look in the comments some were made over a year ago. I wonder if this is a bug or the instructable has been hacked to get in the phone comp? Neat trick if you you don't get caught....

It seems possible to me that the author was attempting to enter the contest by unpublishing and republishing, but the comments, views, and original publish date definitely don't get deleted when doing this, so they were unsuccessful. I've only unpublished/republished once, though it was accidental, and I do believe it was put back at the top of the recent page. Don't quote me on that though.

It's possible that it was unpublished and republished?

In that case either the view counter should be back to zero or the comments gone.
If that trick works it is too easy to get old Ibles into contests.
Bad enough what some people enter in a contest these days....

AFAIK, it doesn't delete the original publishing date from the records, in the same way that it doesn't delete comments* and view counts, so it doesn't (shouldn't) work to add it to a contest.
As it stands, that project is not entered into any contests, so it's not really an issue. If it does end up entered, we can "have a word" with HQ.
*I remember somebody trying unsuccessfully to delete critical comments by unpublishing/republishing their work.

So do you think its a bug then?

More of an "unexploited feature"...
