Other uses for Second Life? Answered

In an instructable I recently published (How to pick up women online), I have discussed how to make use of Second Life in order to beat Approach Anxiety, to perfect some pickup techniques, and to improve conversation.

I know of a few second life players who have made use of the game in order to overcome their fears, insecurities and phobias, and to widen their horizons.

It seems to me 3D virtual worlds offer a tremendous opportunity to acquire real life skills (for instance I also know people who have used second life to perfect a language).

I was wondering if anyone could think of similar uses for second life, and ideas on how to implement them.

hush, this is the dark side of geekdom that rarely anyone on the outside has seen. I guess one use of Second Life is to get a life.

and then you get so absorbed in your character that they end up sitting in a room in second life on a second life computer logged on to third life

You don't have to bother about the whole instructable, but could I suggest you read this part of it: https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-pick-up-women-online/step2/About-approach-anxiety/

This chance meeting is what really got me hooked to second life (I really hated the game at first).
It kind of openned by eyes to what it had to offer, but sadly, it was more tantalizing me than anything else... besides what i mention in my original forum post (languages, flirting, dealing with phobias), Second Life seems to fall short of educative value (unless you are into BDSM, in which case there appears to be a wealth of material on there!)

Real people ain't the same. It may help a bit, but you end up "wierd" if you don't live in the real world.
I suspect that your use of "pickup" and "beautiful women" to be somewhat superficial, but you've got something on getting beyond that and getting into the person behind the pixels there.
