 WOAH! 

I feel that the applications would be kind of limited though. As they are only two particles connected. Though, that could mean one of my particles is connoted to a particle in a star far far away. Sweet!


Non-Sequiter, If teleporting does begin to work, think about the effects it wolf have on the world! Races would disappear, Globalization would increase ten fold, and you could populate the sahara!

Think about this type of transport though......about the moral implications of it for living things.....if you haven't seen it, here is the video on Hulu for Think Like  A Dinosaur  which tries to deal with such a stigma.

The preprint is on arXiv (arXiv:1002.0200) if you want to read it.  Keep in mind that this is a theory paper -- the author does not describe or demonstrate an experimental implementation. 

Also, this is not "free energy," nor is it "superluminal communication" -- energy conservation still applies, and the extraction of "teleported" energy requires a classical (i.e., luminal or subluminal) communication channel in order to coordinate the two measurements of the entangled particles.

Having said all that, it is still a very elegant demonstration that information and energy are intimately related.

Thank you for your link Kelseymh,  I find all of this very interesting.  However, I know we are not going to see a Star Trek type of transporter anytime soon; if ever, if only for the reason, as one writer put it, that "there isn't enough energy in the known galaxy" for such a breaking down of a single human body, into pure energy, in order TO transport it.

Although the door is slowly opening, I don't even think we are going to see a mechanism like the one in the Outer Limits story:  Think Like A Dinosaur  anytime soon, either.
