Popcorn...On The Cob?! Answered

I've heard of a way to make popcorn on the cob. I just want to know if what I heard is possible, or if you need a special type of corn or not. Ok, here it is: Freeze a cob of corn for one hour and thirty minutes. Cut off the leafy end Put the cob of corn into the microwave for seven minutes. At three minutes it should start popping. I think it says any cob of corn will do, but I'm not so shure.

I have corn handy now, But Mom will not let me do it. Ever since she left a bag of popcorn in the microwave too long and stinking smoke filled the kitchen. She also does not want me to ruin the new microwave. :(

Do you thaw it between freezing and cutting, or do you use a hacksaw to cut the leaves off?

Why freeze it anyway? Microwave a cob and the kernels will absorb the microwaves first whether they are frozen or not.

I've just remembered my popular American culture lessons (old Tom & Jerry cartoons and Donald Duck shorts) - all you need to do to pop corn on the cob is to hold the cob in your right hand whilst sticking your left forefinger in a light socket. be careful, though, as the last kernel inevitably strikes the user in the eye...

I tried that. Now I can't taste the popcorn.

Popcorn depends mostly on the moisture inside the kernels. If it is too old, it will not pop (well).
