Portable 12v Power? Answered

I need to power a 12v dc Digital Photo frame in an interior area with no available plugs. I can charge it at night, but need it to be self powered during the day. What can I use as power? I was thinking of possibly a Computer battery back-up or a portable battery used for jump starting a car. Any and all ideas would be helpful. Basically making a battery powered digital sign board. Thank you!

If you have space for the car battery it will last for weeks if not months.

Otherwise you could look at cordless drill power packs or you may get away with a 3 cell lipo, again you will need to buy a charger for it as well but it will last for many days or weeks.

Rick, Thank you. I do have space for a car battery in the base. Would I run the power through some sort of regulator?

Yeah it should be ~ok~

Feel I should mention to make sure it's a *Sealed* 12V battery. A standard car battery is hazardous to keep inside. Even if you charge it outside there are still flammable gasses coming off it !

Besides a smaller sealed type 12V battery is lighter and cheaper too !

You can probably find one inside an old UPS computer power back up :)

If the normal supply for the frame is 12 volts then NO. All you need to do is ensure polarity is correct.

3S lithium ion battery? a 12V lead acid or car battery? 10 'AA' or 'C' or 'D' rechargeable batteries? 2, 6V lantern lead acid rechargeable batteries? 6 or so supercapacitors? Just some ideas.
