This is a bad question (and not posted in Answers):
What sort of LEDs are these?
Why have you tagged this with "From" and "Mains"?

I'm abit of a newbie to this to be fair, I noticed the tags after I published it, I just typed anything in a rush really (thought it was a sub-title) Not sure what sort of LED's they are really, just colour change ones I nicked out of a solar garden light, Didn't think there were many different types either. maybe a trip to Maplins would be better

OK you've got colour change ones I nicked out of a solar garden light.
What batteries were in the light, or can you show us similar, then we might find out what batteries would do it for you.

Single solar garden lights generally have a single (cheap) rechargeable AA.
@abitdifferent, an old mobile phone charger should work for you, as long as you put a resister in series with the LEDs. They typically put out around 4-5V.

if he can find a 3v wall wart, he doesn't even need a very large resister.

Nor so much for a phone charger, if he connects the LEDs in series.
