Chat client? Instant messaging. Are you using Java?

Another useful thing to program would be a route-planner. Let's say I have a list of errands to run (go to bank, pick up groceries, get lunch, go to work...) and that they are all some distance from me and each other.

Can you write a program that will pick the optimum route for me to take to minimize my travel?

This doesn't need a gui, since I can make a graph that will show the distance from each point to every other point. I just need something to find the best route, since I am a perfectionist and don't want to waste time driving around.

The problem with that is I don't have the skill level to create a database with all the routes, locations, etc in them. All I'd be able to do us give you a travel time calculator based on speed and distance. But that won't account for traffic, construction, or other factors.

I have a bunch of semi valuable items, and I want to fit as many of them as possible into a box or a knapsack. I want to make sure that I always carry away the most valuable load that I can. Of course, I can only carry so much in my knapsack!

Could you program something that could solve this problem?

Assume for the purposes of you program that I only care about the value of the item and the weight- not the size or shape of the item.

What is the basis of that scenario? Is there any events that lead up to that? Remember, im dealing with a command line, not a real GUI. I should have mentioned in the description that I am using C++, and I don't know how to create a GUI yet.

And give me some details about the scenario and how I would implement it.
