Reformatting bugs Answered

I just published an instructable but I'm dismayed to see the autoformatting has made it look pretty rotten. Steps 2 & 3 have wide aspect ratio images and they have been cropped and rendered in very low quality. The autoplay youtube function (where you can make a youtube video look like a gif) no longer works and the aspect ratio chosen seems to be ignored, so you get the black bars even when you do hit play. Any chance this cropping/breaking can be fixed? Thanks.

Hi Scott,

Thank you for the feedback. It's been passed to the correct parties for consideration! :)

I thought this was always an issue? Thanks for the tips below though, I've been trying figure some workarounds...

These are reasonably recent issues I think. Definitely within the last year for the non-playing gifs and videos, though it is possible the latter issue is a YouTube rather than an Instructables thing. The wide-aspect ratio image problem may be an old one, it is possible that I never tried to do that before.

No, I checked an older instructable. Step 2 is a wide aspect ratio screenshot and it looks horrible: badly cropped and low res. I'm absolutely confident it *used* to look fine.

tried changing the video to a gif... even that doesn't autoplay and it gets resized. gawd

OK, you can get around that by finding the URL of the gif then embedding inline using the HTML editor... but why?
