Resistor Tolerance Stripe? Answered
From the examples given in the discussion about calculating resistance based on stripes, it was unclear to me how to know which of the stripes is the tolerance indicator. In the first graphic, I inferred the gold color was the indicator; thus the unit should be oriented for reading with the gold stripe to the right, but you never explained this point at all. With the example of the resistor with 5 stripes both ends appeared to be the same color. How would one know which way to orient the unit in order to read the stripes?
