Resources for a custom smartphone? Answered

I am annoyed at touch screens and want to make a button/touchscreen hybrid. It should run Android OS. I have a design in place and the body is not an issue.(3D Printing) I want to use a touch button like used on the Blackberry Curve ) but the screen should also be touch. I need hardware(IC's, motherboards, etc.) and I need drivers and the OS (Stack, boot image etc.). Resources to get these are not in my knowledge.

Maybe it would be better for you to simply buy a smartphone (cheaper, already has all the components and guaranteed to work) and either use it as it is or since you have access to a 3d printer you could dissassemble it and make your own chassis to mount the components to it, therefore making it one of a kind and customized to your taste in design issues.

Making your own custom smartphone is not practical or doable. While you may be able to get the hardware together, you won't be able to use it on any network. So you wouldn't be able to use it as a phone. Not to mention for the price of making your own device you could just buy an android tablet with a keyboard. You may as well buy one since that will be your end product anyway. Anything you put together yourself will be too large to be considered a smartphone.

Don't BlackBerry already make one of those?
