Well, I sort of "refused" -- I told Rainy that I've successfully avoided IRC since it was invented :-) It also turns out that I don't (seem) to have a client as part of either of my Macs.
I think the reason for this (and why Rainy posted to Square Pegs) is that I'm just such an easy mark ;->
