Some people can only see some comments in a topic? Answered

I've just had an accidental argument with Dombeef, because there are comments on the topic below that he can't see, but I can.

On a few of my ibles, some comments will not show up until about a day later. It does take a while for that discussion/comment counter on the YOU profile to update. The comments will appear in the midst of the chronological ordered list when it was originally posted.

Maybe some wonky filtering on comments.

Ditto- your comment on my lemon balm thread only appeared (as far as I could see) about a day after your PM, but I assume the comment was "there" all along. Some kind of postmodern Schroedinger-esque comment on how the nature of information is fundamentally subjective... or a server bug?

Just some outside-the-box thinking (no Schroedinger pun intended): can members of the community squad perhaps see comments awaiting moderation before the rest of us, so you get a chance to moderate blatantly offensive comments before they appear to the regular site readership?

Not as far as I know, and in the case reported, it was *my* post that was invisible to Dombeef.

Yep. That means your post was awaiting review by Robot.

But it was visible to me - filtered comments are invisible to everybody, aren't they?

No. They're made visible to *you,* on the assumption (one supposes) that you won't notice. I wish they'd just be honest and make them invisible to all concerned (and make it clear that such behavior is deliberate, not buggy) instead of the silly cloak and dagger stuff.

Nope. Community members are subject to the same restrictions on comments as everyone else, in particular the non-obvious behaviour of comments which have been caught by the filters.
