Some rather cool gadgets I came across while looking for something else....
Here is a link to a listing of really Cool Gadgets and such...
And what is up with this ? Newtonian Fluid ?
I think I want one of these chairs :-) As well as the Sun visor @ mp3/.TV/.DvD listed there. Items like the Rubik's Cube for the blind are cool too. There is even an RC camera car and matching virtual headset combo :-)

Newtonian fluid? What a fancy name for cornstarch and water... Does anyone know where I can find a large tank and around a thousand pounds of cornstarch?

Cornstarch and water becomes thick enough to support a persons weight when struck? (as is being done when they run across it, but stand still and they sink)

It is cornstarch and water. *Whispers* Mythbusters did it too...

Believe so. Have you ever tried that?

Its Non-newtonain fluid! Newtonian fluids do not change viscosity under pressure!

Oops. misread, mistyped, mistake *sorry*

Thanks Zachninme for catching my error.

Ah, for you have taught me something sir!

I've been looking into how they build tracked vehicles and the like, mainy because I saw the paintball tank and believe that I could make one for less than eight grand...

I would only want it for my computer room at home....LOL

Oh no my plan is to make one of these, only friction is a problem, so you need good power, this made have to think of something a bit more insane to create overkill, so far the engine out of a subaru impreza looks like a likely candidate for my design, mainly due to configuration, porche's six cylinders would be useful in a couch orientated version. Yes before you have to ask how much power I mish to extract from the engine it's about 600hp that I need, mainly because I want to be able to cross the country in less than five minutes and will plan my route and fuel tanks size according to petrol station locations...

Now I know I am getting tired (it is nearly midnight here), for when I read that line, I thought, you can't cross the country in a jet in less than a few hours.....oh yeah, you are not speaking of the USA :-) oops.

It's 3:47 I still plan to go 100 + miles in under five minutes including acceleration and on ground with mountains and cliffs etc. one second...
Ok to do 100 miles in five minutes I'd need to be doing 1200mph but I have to accelerate, so say it takes me ten seconds to get to 1200mph I now have to go the rest of the 100miles at over 1200 mph
Ok my theoretical shows that i am already dead and yet I still consider it an option, i need more power though, say my machine weighs in a 200KG including me and I wish to accelerate to 1200 mph in ten seconds which means accelerating 200kg or newtons to 536.448m/s in ten seconds this is an acceleration of 53.6448m/s2 so I'll need a force of 10729.96N
Where's kiteman I need his newton meter...

Last time i saw surface tension like that was my parents anniversary party LOL!!! Interesting gadgets, I like the visor mounted tv (of course in this country that would be the drivers side!)

they called it Newtonian Fluid. That is, the viscosity increased when there was pressure applied to it. But as you saw near the end. When the "pressure" was "steady" rather then increasing, the person sank into the fluid.....wild stuff. :-)

yay newton.... not sure what he had to do with it but whatever. (yes, my first name is isaac why?)

here is a little info, in case you were wondering :-)

this has been added to the list of important stuff they dont teach you in secondary 3. boo the schools.

it is known as a non-newtonian fluid then.....Oops. misread, mistyped, mistake *sorry*

They can't teach you everything.....half the fun of learning is discovery ! Really
