Specific site sections not what they used to be?
About a week ago when i clicked on a section(offbeat, tech, music ect..) it showed zeitgeist, recent, popular, and those categories. Now when i go to a section there is just a list of the current featured 'ibles. Is it supposed to be like this? I really liked being able to see the recent stuff.

The staff have been chopping away at the layout of the various pages for the last few weeks. Almost all of the changes have been met with howls of derision by members of the community, but that isn't stopping the march of, er, "progress." About the only thing they deigned to put back to normal was the left/right column alignment.

I agree with you. However, it appears that the recent changes are coming from some actual research with site usage data. They're trying to focus attention on areas that users are actually interested in, rather than what we (or Staff) think they "ought" to be interested in ;-)
I don't think these changes are as arbitrary as we all believe them to be.

But, but, but...
If they want to focus on what users are interested in, and we are users, does it not follow they ought to focus on what we are interested in? :D

We are anectodal. They are using statistics to find out what most of the thousands of users want. After all, statistics never lie, do they?
