Suggestions for recycling boat sails Answered

A friend of mine had some old boat sails that he was throwing away and I ended up claiming them. Now I've been thinking about a project to use them in, but I'm pretty much hitting a wall. I've considered making a teepee, bags, even clothes but none of those sound appealing so I was hoping for some inspiration.

I've seen some people make great messenger bags and purses out of sails. I'm sure several sewing sites would have patterns to offer.

Or, parachute pants?

It may be slightly clichéd, but...

... kites?

I'm liking the kite idea. Never made one before and the sailboat cloth is extremely light. 3 sails fit in one duffel bag and can be carried with one hand. Thanks for that.

You can use them as shade sails for example.

Depending how heavy the fabric is a kite is a good option too, although just white is a bit boring.

For a camper van you can use them to create a pop-up top for more room.

Using it as a wrap for an old tyre make a good doughnut for the water or to have fun in the snow.

Options ae pretty much endless I would say :)

Make a sailboat, you're halfway there already.
