What do I do if I find out that the TVs in my apartment have cameras?

As @Downunder35m said, the cameras are not for remote access. However, if you want to be 100% safe, put a piece of tape over it, it's your best solution. If you are generally afraid of being watched by hackers, I would recommend you put a piece of tape over your laptop camera as well.

I dunno. Maybe put a piece of tape over the camera?

Oh yeah, and uh... don't get freaked out. I think a lot of TVs come with built in cameras and microphones. Does the presence of a camera or microphone, mean someone, somewhere is actually using that hardware to watch, or listen, to you?

I said, don't get freaked out, but then I thought I just had to attach that quote from 1984... just because.

George Orwell's classic novel, 1984, was science-fiction when it was published in the year 1949.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four

"The telescreen received and transmitted simultaneously. Any sound
Winston made, above the level of a very low whisper, would be picked up
by it; moreover, so long as he remained within the field of vision which
the metal plaque commanded, he could be seen as well as heard. There
was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any
given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged
in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that
they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in
your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live - did live, from habit
that became instinct - in the assumption that every sound you made was
overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized."

The quick, simple and easy thing to do is put a piece black electrical tape over the camera. It is easily removed and any adhesive residue can be cleaned with glass cleaner.

Nothing as they are usually not for remote access but those people using the smart TV for social media.
If you are converned than just put some black electrical tape over the lens or leave the TV off ;)
