Is there a way to receive TV audio signals similar to radio receiver signals?

TVs receive signals similar to radio receivers.
You need a UHF tuner and demodulator (such as you find in TVs & videos) to demodulate the signals.

I used to have a kitchen clock/ AM-FM radio that received TV audio but that no longer works because they converted the TV broadcasts to digital signal.

You would have to find a radio tuner that receives on the digital TV UHF broadcast band and have the electronics to convert the signal to receive that audio.  I'm not sure which of the new radios can do that but I'm sure there is one out there.

Short of getting a new digital TV, you can get one of the digital TV converter boxes and just hook up the audio outputs to an amplifier and speakers.  But you need a TV display to see what you are doing when you scan/program the converter box to receive the new TV signal. There are some instructables for building an HDTV antenna though.  Good luck.
