# The force of the coil without iron core

Dear All..

If two coil A and B without iron core same as (size) dimension and but coil A winding with 28 gauge and coil B with 32 gauge magnet wire Please help me to know : What is name coil more force for attract a piece of ion metal. Many Thank you

Both excellent Answers but let's talk about how do they come about ?

The 28 gauge is twice the wire cross area of 32 gauge and

The 28 gauge is 65 ohms per 1000 feet while the 32 gauge is 164 ohms per 1K feet.

..... BTW wire area doubles or halves every 3 wire gauges !......Identical batteries, identical turns, but different currents

meansthe left side barbell will be pulled harder.This would seem to explain it

BUT IT DOESN'T!!!!Batteries have internal resistance just like wire coils do too (also) !

Using the wrong small battery type with a high internal resistance and the 28 gauge will have less current turns

Magnetic field strength will be proportional to N*I, where N is number of turns and I is the current (in amperes) flowing through each turn.

The coil that carries more current develops more field. So option A.
