There's a bird under my refrigerator. What do I do? Answered

An hour or two ago, there was a commotion out on my balcony; and then the cat came zooming in, dashing around and knocking things over. She ended up ferociously scrabbling for something underneath the refrigerator. Now, every so often the birds call from out on the balcony, I hear a bird call from the kitchen, and the cat is back to trying to launch an attack on the territory underneath the fridge. I don't really want to have to haul the fridge out from its place, but I don't want a bird trapped under there either. Any ideas?

The poor thing is terrified.
Give it some peace and quiteness with an open door and it will leave your fridge once mum is calling out.

This has to be the most original question that's ever been asked here! (I see you solved it, that's why I'm commenting)

Thanks to all. The problem solved itself: the bird made a break for it and got back out the window. (Not sure for its future, poor thing, one wing looked to be in bad shape.)

I think I knew that the bird would probably solve its own problem, but I guess I panicked.

Put the cat in another room and move the refrigerator.

The bird will stay there for days or until it dies.

Guaranteed you will move the refrigerator if the bird dies and maggots start crawling across the kitchen floor.
